For us it's a clean run out of the yard — M621, M1 north, off at junction 46 and along the A63 — call it twenty minutes on a fair morning, which keeps next-day delivery reliable and puts same-day within reach if you ring early.
The streets sort themselves neatly by era. The terraces off Main Street and around Church Garforth date from the colliery years, and some need an on-road skip under a Leeds City Council permit, which we arrange — £40, an initial two-week period, lights and cones supplied. The post-war semis, which is most of the town if we're honest, have drives that take a skip without ceremony. And the new estates pushing out towards Ninelands Lane and Selby Road generate the modern classics — turf, subsoil, broken slabs and flat-pack offcuts — which is 8-yarder work, heavy waste allowed.
LS25 is bigger than Garforth alone. Kippax, the largest of the villages, sits on the ridge towards Castleford; Aberford keeps its stone frontages on the old Great North Road, next door to Lotherton Hall; Micklefield lines the A656 where its pit once stood.
