UK GDPR · Last updated August 2026

Onyx Recycling Ltd(“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

01Who we are

Onyx Recycling Ltd is a skip hire and waste management company operating across Leeds and Wakefield from our transfer station on Garnet Road in Leeds. For data protection purposes, Onyx Recycling Ltd is the data controller of any personal information you provide to us.

EFR Skips is a trading name of Onyx Recycling Ltd. If you have previously booked with EFR Skips, or receive correspondence under that name, it is the same company and the same controller.

Registered office: Unit 22b Climax Works, Garnet Road, Leeds LS11 5JY. You can contact us at info@onyxrecycling.co.uk or 0113 539 9836.

03How we use your information

We use the personal information we collect to:

  • Process your bookings and deliver our services
  • Send booking confirmations, reminders and collection notifications
  • Communicate with you about your order or any queries
  • Process payments and refunds
  • Issue invoices and maintain accounting records
  • Comply with our legal obligations as a licensed waste carrier
  • Improve our website and services
  • Prevent fraud and protect our legitimate business interests

05Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share it with trusted partners only where necessary to deliver our services, including:

  • Our payment processor (Stripe) to handle card payments securely
  • Address lookup services to verify delivery locations
  • Local authorities when arranging skip permits on your behalf
  • Our IT, hosting, email and SMS providers
  • HMRC, the Environment Agency and other regulators where legally required

All third parties are required to keep your information secure and use it only for the purpose for which we shared it.

06How long we keep your information

We keep your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this policy. Booking and invoicing records are retained for at least six years to meet HMRC requirements. Marketing data is held until you withdraw consent. Waste transfer notes are retained in line with Environment Agency requirements, typically two years.

07Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request deletion of your data, where there is no legal reason to retain it
  • Object to or restrict our use of your data in certain circumstances
  • Withdraw consent at any time where consent is the lawful basis
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)

To exercise any of these rights, email info@onyxrecycling.co.uk or write to us at our registered address. You can also complain directly to the ICO at ico.org.uk.

08Security

We have appropriate technical and organisational measures in place to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, accidental loss, alteration or disclosure. Payment information is encrypted in transit and processed by Stripe under PCI-DSS Level 1 compliance.

09Cookies & analytics

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use two categories:

  • Essential cookies— needed for the site and booking flow to work, for example remembering your booking progress and enabling secure payments through Stripe. These do not require consent and cannot be switched off.
  • Analytics cookies — we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use our site so we can improve it. These are only set after you accept them in our cookie banner. Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_<id>, which typically last up to two years and are used to distinguish visitors and measure how pages are used.

We operate Google Consent Mode, which means analytics is disabled by default and no analytics cookies are placed until you give consent. If you decline, Google Analytics is not activated. The data collected — pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type — is processed by Google LLC on our behalf as a data processor. You can review Google’s practices in the Google Privacy Policy. Google Analytics 4 uses your IP address to derive an approximate, city-level location and does not log or retain the full IP address.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer of every page. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Disabling essential cookies may affect functionality such as the booking flow.

10International data transfers

Some of the service providers we rely on are based outside the UK, which means your personal information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data protection laws differ from the UK’s — in particular the United States:

  • Google LLC— Google Analytics (United States)
  • Stripe, Inc.— payment processing (United States)

Where we transfer personal data outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards to keep it protected — such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, and/or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. You can request a copy of the safeguards we have in place by emailing info@onyxrecycling.co.uk.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Where significant changes are made, we will take reasonable steps to notify you.
